Rejoice! Is Celebrating 50 Years Of Sacred Music In Newcastle

The Church of Our Lady of the Assumption, Newcastle, Co Down, is currently celebrating its 50th anniversary.

The parish will launch a double album of sacred music on Friday, June 24, in the Church, starting at 7.30pm.

RejoiceParish CD cover_1Michael Boyd, Project Director, said: “Refreshments will be served in the Parish Centre after the presentation.xa0Parishioners and visitors will have the opportunity to hear a live performance of some hymns which have been recorded. These include traditional and contemporary pieces.

“The album will be on sale in the Church porches (£15). In July it will be possible to download the album from the parish web site.

“The double album contains a total of 30 pieces (15 on each CD). These include the choirs of Newcastle, Bryansford, the Folk Choir, the Newcastle Community Choir (representing all the Churches in Newcastle), Finbarr Keaveney and Family, Bryansford Ballad Group, G.I.F.T Singers, a number of soloists (including Fr Colin Crossey, Aveen Doherty, Orla Magennis, Emma Rice, Eamonn Keaveney, Bronagh Killough, Kenny Moore, James Leonard and Carol-Ann McKay), organ solos (Gerry Doherty) and a duet (Fr Colin and Finbarr).
