Police Hunt for Arsonist in Newcastle

FOLLOWING a series of arson attacks on thexa0Dunwellanxa0Parkxa0area in Newcastle on Sunday evening (2 June), local police received a report at aroundxa010.30pm when three wheelie bins being set alight and placed against a vehicle, an oil tank and a house.dn_screen

NIFRS personnel made the area safe and damage was caused only to the bins, which were destroyed.xa0xa0A similar incident took place on Sun 26 May.

Sgt Richard Smyth Newcastle PSNI said: “We are fortunate no one was injured in any of these incidents.xa0But I would remind those responsible that to play with fire is a very dangerous thing.xa0xa0Fire is completely unpredictable and can jump or change direction very quickly.xa0xa0It can not only cause damage to property but could end in the loss of life.”
