MICHAEL Pearson saw his bad luck spell ended at Scarborough on Saturday when the D&GW Racing rider scored a double success in day one of the Cock of the North meeting over the Oliver’s Mount circuit.
Pearson, who went to the meeting with high expectations, could not have wished for a better start to his weekend after he took victories in the Superbike and Supersport 600 races, with the Lisburn rider now eager to get that Cock of the North win back under his belt on Sunday.

In the Open Superbike race, Pearson on the D&GW Racing BMW, took an eight second winning margin over Dungannon’s Ryan Farquhar (Kawasaki) and Ballymoney’s Adrian Archibald (BMW), with Pearson also collecting the fastest lap of the race with a 1m 46 second lap.
He then doubled up his winning ways in the Supersport 600 race with the former Irish Superbike Champion taking his first win on the D&GW/Carryduff Forklifts Racing R6 Yamaha.
Speaking after the meeting, he said, “I am very happy as to how things have went today. The BMW was absolutely flying in the Superbike race. I think I took Ryan on lap three of the race and never looked back, but I was expecting him to make a move on me later in the race, so I was surprised to see that I had such a big advantage at the end.
“Today was my first time out on the D&GW/Carryduff Forklifts Racing Yamaha R6. We just got the bike on Wednesday night and have been unable to do anything to it, so to get the race win was a big big bonus. The wee Yamaha is way down on power, so its better to find these things out over this weekend in preparation for the Ulster Grand Prix. I am looking forward to tomorrow, and I will again be trying 100% in both class’s, but its the Cock of the North win that I want most”.
Willis Marshall, PRO for the Parson camp, said, “I am delighted for Michael. He has been going through a torrid time of late and just when it looked like things could not improve, he produces two wins out of the blue at Scarborough. Michael loves the Oliver’s mount circuit and he went there this weekend with a good feeling in himself, and that has spurred him on.
“The win on the Yamaha R6 is really good news as the lads just received the bike 48 hrs before they left for Scarborough. The bike is owned by D&GW Racing in partnership with Carryduff Forklifts. It had been used by Chris Dowds all season and when the sale of the bike fell through, D&GW Racing offered a 50% deal with Carryduff Forklifts and the rest is history.  As Michael has said, the Cock of the North race on Sunday is the big one, so fingers crossed”.
