Summer brings the opportunity for police and PCSP officers to get ‘out and about’ to meet local communities while sharing information and advice on personal, property and public safety.

So far Newry, Mourne and Down Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP) have attended Newry and Castlewellan Shows and Claragh Bridge Vintage Festival in partnership with the PSNI and Crime Prevention Officers.

Such events give the PCSP an opportunity to address concerns specific to rural communities including initiatives such as the Farm Watch and Text Alert Schemes and provide advice on farm safety, trailer marking, cattle branding and to help protect isolated communities and their property.

In addition to receiving helpful information and advice people attending such events get to know their local contacts in the PSNI, PCSP and Crime Prevention and establishing relationships with them.

From an interagency perspective, such joined up working is both cost effective and provides officers an opportunity to engage positively with the local community.
