Partnership Approach To Addressing Crime Agreed

THE most senior police officers in C District and members of all four Police and Community Safety Partnerships have held a very productive conference in the Signal Centre, Balloo, Bangor, today (Wednesday 26 Sept).

The conference discussed finding new and innovative ways for the police and the community to tackle crime as a partnership. There was also an opportunity to learn how other agencies from outside Northern Ireland have addressed similar issues.

Those invited included local councillors and independent members along with representatives from a range of statutory agencies organisations and groups.

Special guest speaker at the conference was William Linder who works with Strathclyde Violent Crime Reduction Unit which through successful partnership with communities and other statutory bodies, has helped reduce violent crime in Glasgow.

CI Deirdre Bones, Down area commander, said; “The conference was an excellent opportunity to further enhance our close links with our local PCSP. The close liaison that we already share can only reassure members of the community of our joint dedication to make Down a safer place to live and work.”
