Fisheries Minister Michelle O’Neill today published the Triennial Review of the NI Fishery Harbour Authority (NIFHA).
[caption id="attachment_53400" align="alignright" width="390"] The NIFHA triennual report has been launched.[/caption]The Review assessed how well the Fishery Harbour Authority was exercising its functions in the management of fishery harbours at Ardglass, Kilkeel and Portavogie.
Commenting on the findings of the Review, Minister O’Neill said: “Our fishing harbours are the lifeline of coastal villages and towns across the north and I’m pleased to note that the Triennial Review has found that NIFHA, as an organisation, is performing well in its role of maintaining, managing and improving our fishery harbours.
[caption id="attachment_39052" align="alignleft" width="240"] NI Fisheries Minister Michele O’Neill.[/caption]“The review concluded that the functions of NIFHA are necessary for safe management of the three fishing harbours at Ardglass, Kilkeel and Portavogie.
“The Review also recommended that NIFHA remained the most appropriate body to deliver on this objective.
“NIFHA continues to play an important role in promoting the sustainable development of the sea fishing industry, including the provision of safe and modern harbour facilities.
“This review recognises the good work that NIFHA continues to do on behalf of our fishing industry, and I fully welcome the Report’s findings.”
