Commissioner for Older People is to consult with local people over 60 at a meeting in Denvir’s Hotel in Downpatrick
The Commissioner for Older People for Northern Ireland, Eddie Lynch, is inviting older people from County Down to join him at a free event next week to share their views on ageism.
The Commissioner said that one of his key priorities for the remainder of his term is tackling ageism and ageist attitudes in our society.
In order to fully understand this, he is hosting six events across Northern Ireland, including one in Downpatrick on Tuesday 12th September, to hear first-hand from older people about their experiences and views on ageism.
Full details including venue will be provided upon registration. Transport to the venue will be provided if needed from beside Downpatrick bus station beside the rear of Grove shopping centre to ease parking problems.
The Commissioner said: “Meeting with older people is one of the most enriching parts of this job and I really value these engagements, as hearing real life experiences truly help to inform my work.
“It’s important I hear the views of older people from all areas of Northern Ireland, and I am really looking forward to hosting these events.
“I hope that many older people in Downpatrick and the neighbouring areas, will join me for an in-depth and informal discussion so I can hear first-hand their experiences of this important matter.”
The event is free of charge and refreshments will be provided.
Demand is expected to be high, if you would like to register your interest, email communications@copni.org or call 028 9089 0878.
