Newry Mourne and Down Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP) has recently appointed their new chairperson for the next year.
Newry Mourne and Down District Council Councillor Brian Quinn, who has been a community volunteer for over twenty years and currently represents the Mourne’s District Electoral Area (DEA), has been selected to serve as chairperson of the PCSP for the period of one year.
Speaking on his appointment Councillor Quinn said: “It is vital that the PCSP continues to develop a meaningful, effective and realistic strategic plan for the area.
“This can only be done by continuing the good work of the PCSP by engaging the opinion and support of local communities in order to have an impact on crime and anti-social behaviour.”
Councillor Quinn added: “It is vital that we continue to work in partnership to build safer, shared and confident communities.
“I look forward to the challenge that lies ahead and in leading the PCSP as it develops and grows.”
Following his appointment, Councillor Quinn congratulated Mr Dan McEvoy on his re-election to the position of Vice Chairperson of the PCSP.
Dan McEvoy is one of nine independently appointed members of the PCSP. He is from the Downpatrick area and is an active member of various community-based groups such as the Neighbourhood Watch and the newly formed Downpatrick DEA Forum.
Both the new Chairperson and Vice Chairperson are looking forward to the work they will be carrying out within the PCSP over the next year.
