On Sunday 30 August 2015, the third annual Stephen Shannon Memorial soccer match will take place in Downpatrick.
[caption id="attachment_37994" align="alignleft" width="240"] Local soccer players in Downpatrick are having an annual soccer match in memory of Stephen ‘Stig’ Shannon who passed away three years ago.[/caption]This match will be a hotly contested affair between the residents and ex-residents of the Flying Horse and Model Farm estates in the town. The match may inlcude ex Cliftonville legend Mark Holland, Barry Holland of Irish Cup Champions Glentoran, Amateur League legends such as Jim McStravick and Andy McMenemin former Killyleagh star, Â and many more.
It will take place in Dunleath Playing Fields in Downpatrick at 1pm.
So if there are any ex or current Model Farm and Flying Horse residents who want to dazzle the crowd with their soccer skills and would like to play, it is £5 to join the team.
All proceeds will be donated to PIPS Downpatrick in honour of a great friend Stephen Shannon, who suddenly passed away three years ago. Â The match will be followed by refreshments in Savages Bar, St PAtrick’s Avenue in Downpatrick.
