The Lazy Flies[/caption] Well-known names amongst music fans, the four acts will bring a show to remember to the Ards stage, according to Emily Crawford, Arts and Museum Manager for Ards and North Down Borough Council. She said: “We are delighted to have such a strong programme of acts billed for the last Friday Night Live before we take a break for the summer. “The variety of the acts, from the heart-tugging melodies of Edelle McMahon to the comic style of Steve Amos, will no doubt make for a fantastic evening of entertainment. I would encourage residents who haven’t come along to one of our gigs before to give the show a try, they won’t be disappointed. They will, however, have to get in quick as tickets will sell out fast!” Stephen Dunwoody has supported numerous international acts during a 20-year career, including Jools Holland, Vonda Sheperd, Wishbone Ash, The Corrs and Bjorn Again. His latest album, Night Shift, tells the story of a ‘down at heel’ former boxer who looks back on life and loves. Edelle McMahon blends influences ranging from sean-nos storytelling to starkly confessional acoustics, her music features a spellbinding mix of heart-tugging melodies, powerfully brooding lyrics and haunting vocals. Lazy Flies are a musical three-piece from Belfast who’s delicately weaving vocal harmonies conjure a charming pop aesthetic. Drawing inspiration from acts such as Beck and David Bowie, they combine evocative melodies with a lyrical wit to create something wonderfully recognisable yet totally unique. Steve Amos has done for comedy songs what Vlad the Impaler did for the lumber industry! Not known for his subtly or taste Steve has been affronting audiences for some years now with his unique song style. The gig takes place on Friday 26 June at 8pm in Ards Arts Centre. Tickets cost £6 and can be booked on 028 9181 0803 or at ardsarts.com. Light refreshments will be provided, plus attendees are welcome to bring their own bottle.]]>
