David Lyttle to Down district with a new trio featuring Andreas Varady, a fast-rising global star of jazz guitar, and bass player Bandi Varady. The David Lyttle Three will perform live at The Lodge, Castlewellan, at 8pm on Saturday 15th October. David Lyttle has been hailed by the international press as one of the most important jazz artists to emerge from Ireland in recent years. Originally from County Armagh, his groups have featured some of the globe’s most respected artists.  Described by The Irish Times as ‘brilliant’ and by Jazzwise as ‘prolific’, David was awarded the ‘Best Young Irish Musician’ award at the Cork Jazz Festival in 2010. Slovakian guitarist Andreas Varady has lived in Ireland since 2007. He started out as an emigrant busker and has gone on to appear on BBC and RTE radio and television, and performed at major jazz festivals with guitar heroes including Louis Stewart, Andreas Oberg, Tommy Emmanuel and Martin Taylor. In April, his first cover feature, for Guitar Player Magazine (USA), was distributed worldwide. Celebrating the release of their co-led album, ‘Questions’, David, Andreas and their band recently appeared on RTE’s iconic ‘The Late Late Show’. At their recent headlining appearance at London’s legendary Ronnie Scott’s, they received two standing ovations, four-star reviews from The Times and The Evening Standard, and Andreas made history as the club’s youngest headliner at the age of 14. The performance by David, Andreas and Bandi in Castlewellan on 15 October will be a rare opportunity to experience the very best of jazz, created by these truly exceptional young musicians.
