Hazzard Concerned Over A No Deal Brexit

Report shows devastating impact of no-deal Brexit – Hazzard.

South Down Sinn Féin MP Chris Hazzard has said the mounting evidence of the devastating impact a no-deal Brexit would have on the North highlights the need to maintain the backstop.

This growing fear follows the publication of an economic report on the Irish border and customs in a no-Deal Brexit scenario.

Sinn Féin South Down MP Chris Hazzard is concerned about the effects of a No Deal Brexit.

The South Down MP said: “This latest report from a leading German lawyer specialising in EU customs law and a customs and taxation expert provides further evidence of how disastrous a no-deal Brexit would be for Ireland North and South.

“This report clearly shows the hugely negative impact a no-deal Brexit would have on our local economy.xa0

“It also shows that no solution currently exists to avoid physical infrastructure on or near the border in the event of a no deal Brexit.xa0

“The Withdrawal Agreement and the backstop it contains to avoid a hard border is the only deal on the table.xa0

“Its implementation is vital in the face of Tory Brexiteers who are competing with each other to see who can deliver the hardest, most devastating Brexit, regardless of its consequences,” added Mr Hazzard.
