Sinn Féin South Down MP Chris Hazzard has called on the local farming community to engage with the Department of Agriculture, Environment & Rural Affairs’ (DAERA) ongoing consultation on a new Bovine Tuberculosis Eradication Strategy.
The South Down MP said: “In her time as Agriculture Minister, Michelle O’Neill established the Tuberculosis Strategic Partnership in 2014 in order to develop a long-term strategy and implementation plan to eradicate Bovine TB. The group finally presented their findings last year, and are now publishing proposals on the way forward.
“These proposals include new approaches to stakeholder partnership, wildlife welfare, herd management, funding, and future research of the disease.
“The consultation will run until the 1st February 2018 and can be accessed online via the DAERA website:
www.daera-ni.gov.uk/
or alternatively feel free to call into any local Sinn Féin office for a hard copy.”
