Local business woman Michaela Curran from Downpatrick is fully committed to the health benefits of the Aloe Vera products that she sells working her business around her family life.
A long-established source of healing and good health, Aloe Vera is world-renowned as a supplement which can improve and range of conditions from skin ailments, burns including sunburn, and it is used often in shampoos, conditioners and moisturisers.
Michaela said: “Aloe Vera has been around helping people for at least 6000 years. It was even used by the Egyptians.
“I got involved promoting Aloe Vera with the kelp of Aine French from Belfast and business has been steady since I started. I attend various craft shows, pop ups and other events to promote it. Once my customers get using the products and are feeling the benefits, they tend to spread the word among their family, friends and work colleagues etc. Word of mouth is one of the strongest marketing channels and it works great for me. I also visit homes and do presentations to one or two people to bigger groups. These sessions are a great opportunity to meet the public and I can discuss the benefits on a one-to-one basis.
“I also do house parties, and other events and I find that people have already heard a lot about the health giving potential of the range of Aloe Vera products on the market. So I tend often to have a head’s start. I bring lots of information booklets with me and people tend to order on the evening or afterwards to top up orders.
“Anyone can use the Aloe Vera products. They are not just beauty applications, although some are certainly very much helpful in creating a wonderful skin complexion. If someone suffers from psoriasis or eczema it can also help relieve the symptoms, but everyone using it should test it on a small area of skin first to ensure they are not in any way allergic to it.
“Aloe Vera can be applied for a wide range of uses in different forms. Many of us may even have Aloe Vera succulent plants at home in a pot and may be familiar what they look like.
“The benefits include improving the digestion and relieving constipation, and it can help drive down sugar levels and this is beneficial to those who suffer from Type 2 diabetes helping to lower blood sugar count. It is used too a lot as a mouth wash and a pain reliever. It can reduce oral irritations.
“Children too can enjoy the benefits of Aloe Vera and we all know that they can get burned up while out playing in the sun in the summer time. I’ve kept my two boys under control by rubbing them down with Aloe Vera to prevent dangerous skin burns especially when like last summer the sun was very hot at times.”
Michaela said she enjoyed going to the Dublin Success day where the Aloe Vera franchisees meet up and celebrate their successes and are rewarded for their efforts over the past month in selling the wide range of products.
Michaela added: “You can even use the Aloe Vera products for your pets. Animals too respond very well and your dog would even benefit from an Aloe Vera shampoo.
“I’ve been busy for the past few months now and it has certainly picked up over Christmas as people buy presents for friends and family members that are a wee bit different.
