Gildernew Calls For Full Response To CAP Reform Consultation

Referring to DARD’s current consultation on the Commission’s CAP Communication, the Minister told stakeholders,  “I need your input to inform the development of a detailed and balanced Departmental position on CAP reform. Once complete I intend to share the outcome from our consultation with the Commission so that it has a clear picture of our views and concerns before legislative proposals are published later this year.” The Minister also encouraged stakeholders to respond directly to the Commission’s own consultation. She said, “This is an excellent opportunity for you to feed your views directly to the Commission – an opportunity not to be missed. It is imperative that we put across the strongest local case that we can to protect the future of CAP payments. “This, of course, is just the start of the reform process, and as it progresses, we will all need to review and refine our positions. Therefore, we in DARD will continue to engage with you to share information and seek your input every step of the way.” DARD’s consultation on the EU Commission Communication, “The CAP towards 2020: Meeting the food, natural resources and territorial challenges of the future”, closes on 31st January 2011.
