Wild Cooking in Finnebrogue Woods.
The fabulous Finnebrogue Woods have been transformed over recent years from a working farm to one of Northern Irelands exciting destinations welcoming locals and visitors alike.
Ed and Rachael Lindsay unveil the latest exciting new developments within Finnebrogue Woods to Tourism Northern Irelands Head of Programmes, Lesley-Ann O’Donnell. Located in the heart of county Down, between Downpatrick and Killyleagh the magical 200- acre lakeside family farm has been transformed over recent years. Despite continuous growth, visitors and locals are always greeted with the welcoming charm Finnebrogue Woods is now renowned for. Visitors are often met fondly by Duck, Ed’s faithful black lab!
Lesley-Ann O’Donnell, Head of Programmes at Tourism NI said: “We are delighted to support this exciting new development at Finnebrogue Woods. This unique attraction will encourage visitors to explore County Down and try out the experiences on offer.
“Ed and Rachael have done a wonderful job to transform Finnebrogue Woods and showcase the beauty of the area in a safe and welcoming environment.”
Ed Lindsay said: “Thanks to funding from Tourism Northern Ireland, the visitor improvements start right at the entrance with a freshly laid tarmac driveway and improved carpark creating ample space for everyone. Our upgraded walking trails through the woods and alongside the lake have been extended and improved making them enjoyable and accessible all year round.
“For those looking to try something new and embrace the wild outdoors we have created a truly unique Wild Cooking space including a tipi and fully functional outdoor kitchen led by our very own Wild Chef, ‘Dan the Viking’. Chef Dan is keen to share his culinary knowledge and works alongside our expert Bushman Rob in creating and enhancing delicious dishes with seasonal foraged flavours fresh from the Woods.”
