All proceeds from her fundraiser went to Millvale Animal Sanctuary. Following the presentation of a cheque of £1078-70 to the sanctuary, Eileen said: “I would like to thank everyone who contributed in any way to the cause as Millvale relies solely on public donations.
“This is the first time I have done anthing like this and it was quite scary but I got through it ok. I’m delighted I did it.
“Thanks to Rob Manley for the use of his premises and to my fundraising side-kick Katie Laurence (Mags & Pie) who unashamedly wore the official fluorescent charity bib while out raising funds!
“And…
* Thanks to Tom Banwell (Leaflets and Poster Designs by Tom Welsh Dragon Photography) who charitably and brilliantly created the event poster.
* Thanks to the sponsor, Paws4Tea where Eileen first learned about Millvale Animal Sanctuary, and to the unwavering support of Barbara Haig and Georgie Tuff.
* Thanks to Debbie Gillies (Debbie’s Farm) who graciously picked up the mic and directed the raffle and to hairdresser Emma Travers (CV Hair Design) who professionally carried out the actual headshave.
* A huge thank you to all our generous local businesses (listed below) that who either donated cash or raffle prizes.
* Lastly, immeasurable admiration and gratitude to Sharon Quinn, owner and founder of Millvale Animal Sanctuary, who, for over twenty years, has selflessly dedicated her life to rescuing and providing safe and loving homes for a variety of animals.
“If you are in a position to help Sharon please feel free to send a donation direct to Millvale Animal Sanctuary, 70 Millvale Road, Ballyward, Castlewellan BT31 9RD. Alternatively, a collection box is in Brennans/Vivo in Dundrum and Dundrum’s Paws4Tea cafe where you are also invited to leave any bedding or food for the animals.”
Sharon Quinn, Millvale owner, said: ” I am overwhelmed by the support we have received. So many people have pitched in – it’s just fantastic. All of Eileen’s team have done a great job! The funds will be used to look after the animals at the sanuary. We have dogs, cats and a few donkeys. At the moment we have 90 dogs alone and none of these will be put down. They will be re-homed and all cared for until then. I work closely with the Dogs Trust.”
