Downpatrick RGU Notes For 16 August 2015

Pride of place this week goes to the U-16 boys who put a great performance to overcome league winners Burren on Thursday past. A thoroughly disciplined team performance saw them through this first of two group matches in what was the tightest of the qualifying groups. Next up is Carryduff writes Collie Quinn.

dn_screenThe Seniors won away on Friday night in Liatroim but still have a fight on their hands to remain in Division 1 with only two games left in the league. Always in command, the boys made life difficult for themselves at times but came through with a 2 point margin in the end. It was great to see Sean Bell back after his prolonged injury.

As usual Sean was perpetual motion and added a good bit of zip to the forward line. Next up is the Championship against Longstone on Saturday afternoon.

The ladies have sailed through to the JFC Final without kicking one ball in anger. A sad state of affairs in championship football.

This weekend we welcome our Cork “Twins” for their bi-annual visit. The Kilshannig club will arrive on Friday for what looks like an action packed weekend. We also have our own U-12 blitz this weekend as well .

The under-8’s and 10’s will also be in action this weekend at their respective go games. Details will be on the website and will be texted out as well.

Funday will be on 30 August for all members and friends. There will also be music by Sunshine on Sunday 30 August in the club. Donation will go to PIPS from the Sunday night event

The juvenile section recently completed a litter pick in the environs of the club as well as the Flying Horse Road. They were joined by Council Chairperson Naomi Bailie and Councillor Colin McGrath on the morning.

This weeks lotto jackpot was not won. The numbers were 4/14/19/26. 8 people matched 3 numbers to share £100. Next weeks jackpot rises to £4400
