She has been nominated for her inspiring work running the company and dedication to the work, and will find out if she has won the gong at a ceremony next Wednesday 29 October at the Ramada Hotel in Belfast.
Marie has spent a lifetime in health care and has worked for JARK for six years. She said: “I am very honoured to be shortlisted for this award. I just love my work. We have a pool of 80 care workers and we look after over 200 clients each day across the area of the South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust.
“We have a great team at JARK and if we are short staffed I am more than delighted to become a hands on manager. It is great sometimes to get out there and be in touch with out client users.”
Independent Health and Care Providers (IHCP) is the recognised representative organisation for independent care providers across Northern Ireland.
Over 10,000 vulnerable adults and older people are cared for by IHCP members in residential and nursing homes, sheltered housing and in the community.
Nominations were encouraged from residents, clients, relatives, owners, managers, other staff and members of the public.
The successful finalists were selected from 185 nominations by a panel of six independent judges.
Entries were provided by IHCP members, with the exception of the Allied Healthcare Provider category, with the competition open to all staff working in all care settings.
Ahead of the awards ceremony, IHCP Chair Pauline Shepherd said: “I am delighted to announce the finalists for our annual awards. This is my first awards ceremony as chair of IHCP, and I feel privileged to be able to honour the outstanding dedication of care staff across Northern Ireland.
“Whether the nominees win or not, this is still fantastic recognition for the tireless work they do caring for vulnerable and older people, and everyone involved should be very proud.”
The main sponsor of the awards is Amore, a member of the Priory Group, and the arrangements are being co-ordinated by IHCP.
