William Patton, Translink Health, Safety, Quality and Environment Manager commented on the importance of bus fire evacuation:

“We worked in partnership with Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service and People First to produce the Translink ‘Out in 3’ fire safety leaflet and training. From October 2014 to July 2015, all 2000 plus Metro and Ulsterbus Drivers will be given training covering the key fire safety programme.

“Bus drivers play a key role in ensuring the safe evacuation of buses in the event of a fire emergency and it is vitally important that they are properly trained and instructed in what to do.” William added.
