DOWN SureStart has launched its new website on 9th May in response to a recent Parent in Partnership focus group in DOWN SureStart, where parents expressed the need for a web resource.
The website has been developed using a co-creative, lead-user approach in collaboration with DOWN SureStart parents and staff, South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust (lead and accountable body for DOWN SureStart), Innovation, Research and Development Department, Professor Jonathan Wallace from Ulster University and Amigo Studios.
Clare Marie Dickson, DOWN Surestart manager,  explained: “The website showcases the wide range of health and education initiatives which DOWN SureStart offers in order to benefit the local community. Parents are absolutely delighted with the website stating “it’s brilliant – better than we imagined.
“The purpose of this service innovation project is to offer a visually attractive web resource for parents, professionals and local voluntary, community and statutory organisations; to provide direct access to children and families particularly the hard to reach not currently engaging or availing of the service and to raise the DOWN SureStart profile, and to increase recognition within the local community.
DOWN SureStart is basically a local partnership of statutory, voluntary and community organisation. We work collaboratively to ensure that families living in disadvantaged communities experience new opportunities and maximise their full potential. We are a government-led, early intervention initiative which targets children under four years and their families living in Downpatrick, Ardglass, Killough, Strangford, Ballykinlar and Murlough area in Newcastle.”
