Down U14 Ladies County Team / U13 Ladies County Development Team

The U13 girls get their Ulster League campaign underway on Saturday 25th March away to Monaghan. This is a six-team league and Down can look forward to home fixtures against Donegal and Armagh with the remaining games away to both Fermanagh and Antrim. The girls have worked very hard since January with excellent attendance at all training sessions and games. The squad and mentors are now looking forward to the competitive action getting underway.

CARRYDUFF ARE DOWN FEILE CHAMPIONS 2017

The Down U14 Feile was played in Clonduff on Saturday with 16 teams competing in four sections with the winner of each progressing to the semi-finals. The standard of play was excellent given the heavy pitches and difficult weather conditions for all the teams and thanks to the Clonduff club for hosting the event this year.

At the end of the group stages the 4 semi-finalists to emerge were Bosco, Carryduff, RGU and Saval. Both semi-finals were close affairs with Carryduff overcoming Saval and Bosco edging out last year’s Down and All-Ireland Feile winners, RGU. In the final Carryduff proved to be too strong for a young talented Bosco team who had been the surprise package in the competition this year reaching their first ever final. Meabh Toal the Carryduff Captain received the trophy and now leads her team to represent Down in the All Ireland Series later this year.

The County Board would like to thank all the teams, mentors & parents who attended, Clonduff for the use of their facilities, the referees and Fixtures secretary Francis Rogan for organising the event.

U14 UPDATE

The U14 team played two highly competitive games against the Down U13 Squad (Details above) and against a strong Carryduff U15/U16 team. The performances from all the girls were excellent and attention now turns to the Ulster Blitz in Cookstown next weekend. Many thanks to Carryduff for providing the opposition and to Rowan Lyons for refereeing the game.

The U13’s will be training on Sunday morning this week in Assumption Grammar in Ballynahinch from 10.30am – 12.00 noon and also on Thursday night from 6.00pm – 7.00pm at the same venue.
