The Depression Charity for Northern Ireland, AWARE, is reaching out to people affected by depression and bipolar disorder acrossxa0Newcastlexa0throughxa0their weeklyxa0supportxa0groupxa0meetings.
AWARE has 23xa0Supportxa0Groups across Northern Ireland bringing invaluable peer-supportxa0to people enabling them toxa0supportxa0each other and help one another.

Crossgar man, Jarlath McCreanor attended asupportxa0groupand is now a volunteerxa0facilitatorxa0at theNewcastleAWARE SupportGroup. Jarlath can be seen driving around the local area in an AWARE car which he had branded to promote the work of the depression charity.
Jarlathxa0said:xa0“The purpose of an AWARExa0Supportxa0Groupxa0is to bring together people with the illness of Depression and bipolar disorder toxa0supportxa0each other and learn more about the illness and treatments available. Attending axa0groupxa0also enables people to share experiences, discuss self-help strategies and coping skills that will help in the recovery process. Carers for people with depression are also welcomed into an AWARExa0Supportxa0Group.
“We have a stand in the Newcastle Centre over the next two weeks promoting the work of AWARE and the services they offer in the local area to help people with depression, and also to support people caring for someone with the illness of depression.
“We would encourage anyone to drop by the stand and lift some of the information available at your leisure.”
