One day workshops are ideal for those who cannot commit to weekly classes. So come along to the huge array of workshops on offer during February at Down Arts Centre.
Silver Jewellery is a one day class on Saturday 4 February. During this workshop participants will spend the day creating a unique piece of silver jewellery. Each participant will be taught traditional jewellery making techniques such as piercing, soldering, rolling, annealing and filing, enabling them to design and make a beautiful piece of jewellery to take home. Diane Lyness, silversmith will deliver this workshop.
Cake Decorating is a one day class taking place on Saturday 11 February. Throughout the day you will learn how to cover and decorate a celebration cake to a professional finish and also use different cutters, modelling tools and colouring techniques to create cake toppers, flowers and bows. You will have a beautifully decorated cake to take home at the end of the day. This course is tutored by Lindy McMahon.
Necklace, Charm Bracelet and Earring workshop takes place on Saturday 18 February. During this workshop you will make your own charm bracelet, necklace and earring sets. You will also learn to use jewellery findings and basic wirework techniques.
This workshop will take you through all the stages; using different tools, wire and chain, how to use findings such as clasps and jumprings and finishing your jewellery.
The last one day workshop in February is Cathedral Window Patchwork on Saturday 25 February. Come along and learn this beautiful traditional patchwork technique. Cathedral Window Patchwork looks very intricate, however, it is very simple to construct.
All of the one day workshops run from 10am to 4pm. Materials and lunch are included in the price.
