Dublin’s drollest diva, Irish singer and comedienne Karen Egan composed her first songs at the tender age of fifteen, and although these classic gems will sadly remain unreleased, she nevertheless demonstrated her innovation and passion for performance. Since then this self-styled multilingual chanteuse has not looked back.

With five-star sell-out successes in the National Concert Hall (Dublin) at The Assembly Rooms (Edinburgh Fringe Festival) and in Finland (Lainssuojattomatt Festival), Karen continues to offer a captivating cocktail of classics from the repertoire of artists as diverse as Jacques Brel, Edith Piaf, Marlene Dietrich, Kurt Weill, Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen, U2 and Van Morrison as well as introducing us to her own quirky, signature songs.

Turning her hand to acting, Karen played the role of ‘Deloise Delight’, a music hall singer, in the second series of BBC TV drama RIPPER STREET. Not missing a trick, the BBC featured Karen’s original music in one of the songs that featured prominently in the series which was aired in October 2013.

With several gravity-defying on-stage costume changes and an original use of props, her live shows are filled with melody and mischief. She has promised Downpatrick audiences a rollercoaster of styles from hip-hop to pop, jazz to country, French ballad to bluegrass and gospel, finishing with a rock anthem that will make you feel as if you can change the world. From beret to boa, this former member of ‘The Nualas’ never fails to present a night of passion and laughter.

In honour of St. Valentine and to add a little glamour to proceedings, DAC is offering a complimentary glass of Prosecco on arrival to all customers, so book now!
