DUP MPA Jim Shannon has condemned the Burglaries in Ballywalter and Ards

Jim Shannon MP for Strangford along with Councillor Nigel Edmund have expressed concern over the numbers of burglaries in the Ballywalter village area over the last few months.

Strangford MP Jim Shannon.

He said: “Just last week a housewife left her home only to return and find her house ransacked and vandalised. This has thrown fear across the village with every other house owner and tenant now also fearful that their house could be next.

“There is a need for all householders to be on the look out for anything unusual or out of order – is there an unknown car in the area, is someone loitering?

“Look out for your neighbour, report anything unusual to the PSNI immediately, no matter how small or perhaps insignificant, it could well be the evidence that could catch the culprit or prevent another burglary.

“I have also been informed that there was a possible attempted burglary in Abbeydale Park over the weekend which was averted when the would be burglar noticed the ring camera recording.

“It is clear that opportunists are at play and we must ensure that the windows are locked and our valuables are not in view.”

Mr Shannon added that If anyone has a concern over their home security, the PSNI Crime Prevention Officers can help and provide advice.
