Ballynahinch Coffee Morning To Support Action Cancer Runner in NY Marathon

Local Ballynahinch woman Orlagh Webb has taken on the challenge of a lifetime by raising vital funds for Action Cancer by running the NYC Marathon this November. action cancer_iconOrlagh has been in training over the past few months and is continuing to work hard towards her fundraising target of £2,750 sponsorship. On Saturday 25 October 2014 she is having a coffee morning in the Market House on the Square in Ballynahinch from 10am to 12 midday and everyone is welcome.

Its mission is to save lives and support people and it does this through a range of cancer detection, prevention and support services. Action Cancer is the only charity in Northern Ireland offering breast screening.

It uses state-of –the-art digital mammography equipment. The charity screens over 1000 women in Northern Ireland each month at its Belfast base and on board the £1.2m Big Bus which travels to over 200 locations every year.

Every month on average the charity detects six breast cancers among women aged 40-49 and over 70 years old, who fall outside the NHS Screening programme. Each year Action Cancer requires an income of £3.5 million to run the vital services provided as Action Cancer receive no government funding.
