Ards And North Down Masterplans’ Consultations

Public Invited to Contribute to Review of City and Town Masterplans

Public Invited to Contribute to Review of City and Town Masterplans

Members of the public are being invited to attend a series of public meetings and contribute to a review of Ards and North Down Borough Council’s city and town masterplans for Bangor, Comber, Donaghadee, Holywood and Newtownards.

Originally produced between 2010 and 2015, the masterplans provide the framework for the promotion, implementation and timing of urban regeneration, recreation, tourism and leisure initiatives.

The Mayor of Ards and North Down, Councillor Karen Douglas, is encouraging members of the public to contribute to a review of the city and town masterplans.

A review of the plans will give the Council clear direction on its future decision making for these initiatives.

These public meetings follow the series of informal drop-in sessions that were held last year. They were attended by more than 300 members of the public who completed more than 240 surveys and submitted more than 800 comments.

This data has been collated and analysed, helping to form the next step in the process.

The consultants and the Council will present the priorities that have been identified, giving members of the public an opportunity to comment and contribute further to the development of the plans.

Registration to attend is not essential but all locations are subject to maximum capacity limits. Sessions will be held in each area:

13 March (5pm-8pm): Donaghadee Masterplan, Donaghadee Community Centre

16 March (5pm-8pm): Comber Masterplan, Comber Leisure Centre

20 March (5pm-8pm): Newtownards Masterplan, Ards Blair Mayne Wellbeing and Leisure Complex

21 March (5pm-8pm): Bangor Masterplan, Bangor Aurora Aquatic and Leisure Complex

22 March (5pm-8pm): Holywood Masterplan, Queen’s Leisure Complex

Information boards and survey forms will be available at each location and will also available on the Council website from 13 March. For more information, visit:
