Ardglass GAC Get Off On The Right Foot At The Start Of Their Season.
Club Notes for Sunday 30th May.
Club members are delighted that Paul O’ Shea and Ardglass GAC were nominated for the Newry Mourne and Down District Civic Awards. A massive thank you to Cllr Oonagh Hanlon for the nomination. The Club were honoured to have the work done by Paul and our volunteers during lockdown recognised by Newry Mourne & Down District Council. Comhghairdeas Paul, writes Deborah Magee.
When lockdown started last year Ghanian fishermen were very isolated on their fishing boats at Ardglass harbour. Paul O’Shea linked in with them and arranged for them to use the Ardtole Club Rooms for showering and washing facilities and provided food parcels. A couple of the Ghanaians also later got involved in playing Gaelic football.
A big thank you to our match ball sponsors at the weekend, and to Ciaran Creggan for the senior game and Conor Feenan for the reserve game. If you wish to sponsor a game feel free to contact our FB page or any committee member.
The club held a car boot sale at St.Nicholas’ Primary School Car Park. We would just like to say a huge thank you to Mary Crangle for getting it organised and to Elaine, Anna and Edward for helping with everything on the day! As always, much appreciated!
Reserves match Sunday 30th May against Drumaness.
The Reserves lost away to a very strong Drumaness outfit, A poor first quarter left to much to claw back, but the boys played some great football in the second half. Conor Kearney, Philip Sutcliffe and Shea Dorrian all contributed great scores, Dillon Addis took his goal well, and Mark Carlin, Ross O, Shea, and Jordy Finnegan worked tirelessly, while Terry ‘Gooch’ Kearney, Eamon McEvoy and Johnny O’Connor all played well.
