Sinn Féin Launch Local Election Manifesto In Downpatrick

Members of the public and Sinn Féin activists gathered in Downpatrick in Denvir’s Hotel on Mondayxa0evening to launch the parties local election manifesto.

The three candidates for those areas, Naomi Bailie, Éamonn McConvey and Eddie Hughes, explained some of the key points of the manifesto to the audience explaining the vision outlined in the document.

Speaking following the launch, Downpatrick council candidate Naomi Bailie said that job creation and was a number one priority for Sinn Féin going into the new council:

“The people of this district have the right to earn a living and to provide for their families, the onus is on those who are elected on the 22xa0May to make sure that this is possible to do without having to move elsewhere.

“There are a number of opportunities that can be developed in the new Newry, Mourne and Down Council area that will lead to employment growth and also benefit local business. We need to utilise the great landmarks and attractions we have to build the tourism product in the area and ensure that we put our local towns on the map as premier tourist destinations.”

Rowallane Sinn Féin candidate Eddie Hughes also commented saying:xa0“It was excellent to see such a vibrant and engaging crowd at the event and I have no doubt everyone in attendance will take away a sense of positivity about what we have outlined in our manifesto as I’m sure the public will do also.
