Glasdrumman GAC Notes For 13 April 2014

Glasdrumman  Seniors  suffered a  narrow home defeat against Clann na Banna at the Quarter Road on Friday  night. With neither team firing on all cylinders the first half was a very  dogged affair  with the score at Half time Glasdrumman 0-2 Clann na Banna 0-3.   The visitors were the more lively of the teams at the start of the second half with  two swift points  to put a gap of 3 between the teams  when Connaire Harrison score d a goal  to put the home side back in contention . Clann na Banna then  scored two  points to open a gap which the hometeam dedespite their best efforts could not close . Final score  Glasdrumman 1-5  Clann na Banna 0-10 writes Tony Bannon.

Baileglas under 12’s gave a good account of themselves in the County Blitz in Ballyholland this week.  There were good displays of football from everyone on the team and the mentors were very pleased with how well the team are performing together.  Under 12 training continues tomorrow night (Thursday) at the Quarter Road pitch, Glasdrumman from 6pm until 7pm.  It is important that everyone attends training as the first league game is only a few weeks away.

Training continues at Pats Rd for Baileghlas Minors on Thursday evening at 7pm, If any Glasdrumman players need a lift to training be at the halfway on Thursday At 6.30pm.

The Glasdrumman U8’s got their football underway last Saturday in Attical in the first of this seasons’ blitzes. With a few players missing due to other commitments it gave mentors Vincey, Gerard, and Crerand the opportunity to use a few of the younger players and they did not let anybody down. Up first were hosts Attical followed An Riocht A & B and to finish off proceedings Rostrevor.

A good mornings football was had by all with a few eye catching performances from this young team. Players in the day were Aodhan and Shea Daly, Ryan McCartan, Darragh Stevenson, George Thompson, Ronan McDowell, Damien and Xavier Rooney. A big thank you to hosts Attical for their kind hospitality and lovely refreshments. It was really appreciated.

As it is Easter next Sunday there will be no U8 and U10 training.

Well done to the Down U14 ladies footballers featuring  Glasdrumman’s Katie Smith  on their tremendous win against Donegal in Newry on Sunday.

BaileGhlas U- 14 got their season off to a winning start against An Riocht with a score line of 4-11 to 1-10 in a highly competitive game  in which both teams  put on a gret adisplay in spite of the inclement weather .  Trinaing will be in Glasdrumman this Tuesday night at 6-30pm. All players please attend
