DOWN FM105 welcomed Jayne Trimble and Julia Reeder to the studio to perform live tracks from their new EP Run Onwards, on Tuesday passed, writes Kathleen Rice.
Live@Lunch presenter Stevie Boyd, was delighted to have the County Down based duo launch FM105’s new initiative to promote local music and following much interaction with listeners, it proved to be a huge success as they performed two live tracks during their interview.
Down FM Presenter Stevie Boyd invited Jayne Trimble and Julia Reeder on to his show Live@Lunch this week.
The singer/song writer from Coney Island, performs with her band Julia Reeder, from Washington D.C, Declan Plummer a Downpatrick musician and Dan Hull from Strangford.
Jayne’s new EP consists of four beautiful songs describing different moments in her life and living in Coney Island.
Live@Lunch airs from 12-2pm every weekday and its presenter Stevie, believes providing local artists with an opportunity to play live on air will be beneficial to both the artist and FM105.
He said:”When Jayne and Julia came into the studio to perform for us it really brought the studio to life. There was a fantastic feeling and the buzz of live music was definitely in the air that day.â€
Jayne, who is just back from Nashville were she recorded her EP with R.E.M producer John Keane, became the very first singer to play live to the vastly growing FM105 audience.
Stevie, who is also training in Radio Management and is heavily involved in the day to day running of the station, is excited about the prospects of local bands performing live on a regular basis.
“The standard of the sound and the quality of music that Jayne Trimble produces was a great way to start our live sessions. We are now hoping to reach out to other local bands and artists to provide them with the same opportunity.
“It is a fantastic and exciting way to connect with the local community in Downpatrick and the surrounding areas.â€
The Down Community Radio station’s new venture will see more local bands and unsigned artists from a wide range of genres play live from the FM105 studio.
Based in the state of the art SERC campus in Downpatrick, FM105 are planning to maximise the potential they have with some of the best facilities available to a community radio station.
FM105: Down Community Radio is available on FM 105.0 MHz and can be heard in Annalong, Ardglass, Ballynahinch, Castlewellan, Clough, Crossgar, Downpatrick, Drumaness, Dundrum, Newcastle, Kilcoo, Saintfield, Seaforde and even as far as Carryduff and parts of Kilkeel.
