A Co Down charity is giving one lucky winner the chance to cycle off with a state-of-the-art bike worth hundreds of pounds as part of its spooktacular Hallowe’en Draw.
Mainstay DRP, a learning disability care and support charity, is offering a Land Rover Khartoum road bike complete with 21 gears, a bottle cage and a cycle computer as one of many fangtastic prizes in the Autumn draw.
In the sporting world, the charity has been making quite a name for itself of late for staging successful, well attended cycle challenges.
In September, 140 cyclists took part in the second ever Mourne 100KM event through some of Co Down’s most picturesque towns and villages.

The organisation’s volunteers and staff also helped organise a 455-mile Mizen to Malin Head Elite Cycle Challenge in July. Over 30 cyclists from throughout Ireland and further afield participated and raised thousands of pounds for the charity.
Helen Taylor, Mainstay DRP’s chairperson, said,”We hope the road bike’s lucky new owner will take part in next year’s cycle challenges.
“We’ve added the bike to the draw because our fundraising cycling events have proved to be a major attraction,” she said.
“Through them, we’ve succeeded in spreading the word about Mainstay DRP’s work to so many new faces, broadened our volunteer network and raised thousands of pounds.
“Mainstay DRP would like to continue to build on this – so we decided that adding a bike to our wonderful list of prizes might prove to be an added incentive!”
Also, up for grabs in the Hallowe’en Draw are return flights to London courtesy of Downe Travel and a £100 home heating oil voucher from Strangford Fuels to keep you warm through the winter.
The photographer Michael Sheppard, who regularly takes promotional photos for the charity, has kindly donated a £250 professional photography voucher.
Some of his work can be viewed on the organisation’s official website at www.mainstaydrp.org
A hamper of wine has also been gifted to the charity by Curleys Wine Cellars. Helen continued by thanking all the local businesses for their continued support and generosity.
“We are indebted to the continued generosity and support of the community – business people and members of the public alike – and we are forever grateful to them.”
All monies raised will go to Mainstay DRP’s long-term fundraising project ‘Building The Dream.’
The charity has already raised half of the £3million required to create a planned purpose built development in Downpatrick suited to the needs of older people with a learning disability.
To be in with a chance of winning, all you have to do is buy a £1 ticket for the Mainstay DRP Hallowe’en Draw!
The charity would also like to hear from anyone who would like to become a volunteer ticket seller.
Helen said, “If you have a spare few hours, why not volunteer for Mainstay DRP? Ticket selling is a great way to meet new people and spread the word about the work we do with adults who have severe Autism or a learning disability.
“It’s also perfect for someone who wants to give something back to the community.”
Tickets are available from Mainstay DRP’s Head Office at Ballydugan Industrial Estate, Ballydugan Road, Downpatrick.
The charity can also be contacted by calling (028) 4461 7184 or emailing info@mainstaydrp.org
The closing date for all ticket entries is 12pm on Monday 31st October with the draw taking place later that day at the charity’s Head Office.
