U-16 Cillbreactain team had a good win over Loughinisland with a score line of 4-09 to 0-16. Andrew McMenamin was on fine scoring form and with the team playing so well together deserved this win. The U-14’s were away to Bryansford on Monday night but were unfortunate not to come out winners in what can only be described as a hard fought encounter losing three players to injury throughout the game. Conor Black and Conor Burke fought hard to keep possession and fed balls through to Corey Ranaghan who scored an impressive 5-02. Niall Patterson battled hard and alongside Niall Byrne kept the game flowing. Well done to everyone for keeping your discipline and playing good football. Festival week was a great success with many thanks due to everyone who gave up time to help out and made donations. Much appreciation to the SOS for your kind hospitality and donations of prizes for the raffle and to everyone who turned up ensuring a full house which was great to see. Gratitude also to John McGrath who was an excellent quiz master on the night and to everyone who turned out to events and raised much needed funding for your club. We trust you had a great time. Sunday was a thoroughly enjoyable family day with many activities for all the family to enjoy. The 5k fun run was won in a strong time of 15-52 minutes by Liam Venney followed into second place by Edmund Venney in a time of 20-22 minutes. The tug of war brought out the competitive spirit for the adults and children alike (more so the adults!) as did the slow bike ride and the bouncy castles provided great entertainment for the kids. Credit is due to Darryl Dobbin who stood up to the mark of goalkeeper for the U10’s and U8’s to score against which proved that our young ones are valuable talent for the future of the club. Much gratitude to all for this event – Nicky Small of Concrete Crafts, Duffy’s shop, Roisin McCartan (face-painting), The SOS, The Castle Inn, Gerard Doherty who sponsored the trophies for the fun run and everyone who helped out preparing for the day and at the event also. We trust this is taken as a true token of appreciation to everyone who contributed to making the day fun and enjoyable. Lotto numbers this week are 4, 14, 15 and 22. Two share £50 with three numbers.
