Newly Mourne and Down District Council’s Ring of Gullion Partnership is working with Jonesborough Community Association and Spouncer Ecology to create a five-year plan for the Jonesborough Woods.
Spouncer Ecology had an open day with the local Jonesborough Primary School to show what fun activities children could take part in and how the school could use the woods as an outdoor class room.
Newly Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson Councillor Gillian Fitzpatrick said: “This is a great community project happening in the area. Jonesborough was planted roughly 20 years ago and remains a living, thriving woodland. However, particularly in the winter there will always be work to do so we welcome the local community to get involved in the upkeep of Jonesborough Forest”.
