Hazzard Says Brexit Is Hurting North’s Businesses

Brexit uncertainty negatively impacting North’s businesses says Hazzard.

South Down MP Chris Hazzard has again attached the Tories and the DUP for their handling of Brexit.

Speaking after a report produced for Ulster Bank by IHS Markit showed that Brexit uncertainty is already impacting negatively on the north’s businesses, Sinn Féin MP Chris Hazzard said: “This is the latest report that shows Brexit is already having a negative impact on our businesses including the construction and manufacturing sectors.

“The Ulster Bank report sets out some of the very real and negative consequences in terms of output, new orders and employment, that the Tory government and the DUP are prepared to force on our businesses and island with their reckless Brexit support.

“That is all evidence of the reckless approach that the DUP is taking by supporting a hard Brexit and opposing the backstop and the withdrawal agreement that would at least insulate our economy from the worst impacts of Brexit.”
