Sean Doran leaves behind powerful legacy says South Down MP Chris Hazzard
Sinn Féin South Down MP Chris Hazzard has paid tribute to his party colleague Cllr Sean Doran who sadly passed away on Friday. The South Down MP was speaking at the funeral mass of the Mournes Councillor on Monday in Massforth, Kilkeel.
Mr Hazzard said: “Losing Sean is a terrible blow for all of us, especially for his mum Teresa, his sister Mary, and his sons Ruairí and Neill. All our hearts are sore, but their grief is unrivalled, their loss is unmatched.
“Sean was a rebel, a fighter for freedom, and a champion for the underdog. Every community needs an iconic figure they can depend upon, and Sean Doran was very dependable.
“He was a bformidable individual, and a first class community representative. Sean lived a life devoted to his community, his country, and his family.
“Sean took great pride in delivering day and daily for the entire Mourne community irregardless of your background or political persuasion. He built strong and lasting friendships with Council colleagues across the political spectrum. Indeed during his illness the care and support that Sean received from all shades of political opinion illustrated the esteem that Sean was held in throughout the wider Mourne area.
“The passing of Sean Doran leaves a void for many, but his legacy is powerful. In a world sick with individualism and petty politics, Sean’s tireless dedication to his community, his unconquerable spirit of freedom, and his unrivalled passion to be a voice for the downtrodden, is a lesson for us all.
“Codládh sámh a comrádaí.”
