Local entrepreneur, Shredbank founder Philip Bain shared the story of his success. Leading business support agencies, Young Enterprise Northern Ireland, The Prince’s Trust and UnLtd were also on hand to provide information on the range of support available to young people wishing to start a business.
Students had the opportunity to compete in a mini ‘Dragon’s Den’ competition. They developed and pitched their business idea to a panel of industry experts and received feedback on their proposals.
Speaking about the event, Mayor of Ards and North Down, Alderman Alan Graham, said: “Ards and North Down has a strong economy with many thriving local businesses. Today’s event was about passing on the importance of entrepreneurship for our local economy to the next generation. After hearing the range of innovative business ideas produced by the students I am confident that with the right support and encouragement many could develop and pursue a successful career in business”.
