Two Arrested After Arson Incident In Newcastle

Detectives investigating an incident of arson during which an oil tank was deliberately set alight at a housexa0inxa0thexa0Ballaghbeg Park area of Newcastle last month have arrested two people.

On Thursday 13 March, an oil tank, fence, windows and guttering at a property in the area were all substantially damaged after being set alight. Damage was also caused to the fencing and guttering at two nearby houses.dn_screen

On Monday 7 April, detectives arrested a 23-year-old man. He was later released on bail pending further enquiries. A 35-year-old woman who had previously been arrested in connection with the incident was re-interviewed on 7 April. She was released pending report to the PPS.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the incident and would appeal to anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the area or who has any other information to contact them on the new non-emergency number 101.
