STAFF from Brennan’s ViVO in Dundrum and the SPAR in Seaforde have climbed to dizzy heights thanks to a day in the Mournes supporting the NSPCC (National Society for the Protection of Cruelty to Children).
As participants in this year’s NSPCC Hike Against Cruelty to Kids (HACK), the dedicated team made every step count for vulnerable local children, and enjoyed a great day out along the way and raised a total of £1100.
Congratulating the group on their success, NSPCC corporate fundraising manager Claire Quigley said that their efforts meant a “great deal” to the children’s charity:
She said: “We are so very grateful to everyone who participates in our Mournes HACK, but there is something extra special when we see teams coming together to do something exceptional for vulnerable local children and families.
“We did find this year that organisations took on the HACK as a team outing, as well as a way to do something meaningful for those in need of our support. Now, as we reap the rewards of the Brennan’s team’s endeavours, we couldn’t be more delighted.
“The feedback we got on the day, and since, is that everyone had a ball – helped in no small part by the fabulous weather. It certainly made that uphill stomp more pleasant!
“Thanks to the Brennan’s team, and everyone who took part, for making the day such a huge success.”
Donna McCusker from Brennans said: “We are thrilled that our staff, customers and friends supported our adventure up the Mourne Mountains for NSPCC. We are thrilled to have supported this local event and to have raised so much for such a great cause. The money raised will help NSPCC continue their wonderful work of protecting children across Northern Ireland. We look forward to next year’s event and hope to have as much success in the Hike Against Cruelty to Kids (HACK) 2013.”
The mountains may have been conquered, but you can still show your support for local children and families by texting NIChild to 70744 to make a donation of £4 to the NSPCC/ChildLine.
