When asked about her experience at Downpatrick MLU, Cheryl said, “Other members of my family gave birth in the old Downpatrick maternity unit and really missed it when it closed. I was encouraged by my family to support this service and I was glad I did. The midwives were very kind, caring and supportive and I am delighted with the excellent service I received.”
This local MLU works in close collaboration with their sister unit at the Ulster Hospital transferring mothers and babies when necessary and the local midwives are delighted that through good risk management only small numbers have required transfer.
