South Eastern HSC Trust Chief Executive welcomed to Mainstay DRP by SDLP

The SDLP’s Colin McGrath MLA has hosted a meeting between South Eastern Trust CEO Roisin Coulter and Director of Mental Health Services and Learning Disability and Psychological Services Rachel Gibbs at Mainstay DRP.

The South Down MLA has said: “Mainstay DRP have provided an essential service within the Down area for many years, and the need for these services has only increased over time.

“Whether that is through their respite services or community hubs, they have made a huge contribution to our area and supported countless families through what can be a very challenging time.

“I was delighted to welcome Roisin and Rachel to Mainstay to discuss Mainstay DRP’s future. It is evident that the model of service delivery for those with learning disabilities is evolving, and Health Trusts are re-examining how they move away from the “homes” of the past and move towards more integration with our local communities.”

Colin McGrath added: “Events such as the inquiry into Muckamore Abbey Hospital have shone a spotlight on this, and I have every confidence that Roisin, Rachel and the entire SE Trust team will do all that they can to make this transition as seamless as possible.

The community and voluntary sector have a critical role to play in achieving that optimal service delivery.

“What we see in Mainstay is a real passion for care for those with learning disabilities and their families and that simply could not happen were it not for the tireless efforts of the committee headed up by Rosemary Gorman and the team on the ground headed by Cyril McKinney.

“Therefore, I look forward to the future to see how this model of service delivery evolves to ensure the very best outcomes for those who make use of these services and their families.”
