Ruane Welcomes Human Rights Report

[/caption] Ms Ruane said, “I welcome the decision from the Human Rights Commission to recommend the setting up of an all Ireland Charter of Rights. “It is important that all the citizens of this island have their rights enshrined in law so that they have protection in their everyday lives and that these rights are the same throughout the island. “At present both the North and South have their own human rights standards but we need an agreed Charter enshrined in law that embraces all the people on this island. “It is important that all political parties now engage with the commission in order to proceed with the Charter as soon as possible.]]>
