Multi Agency Operation To Tackle Metal Theft

dn_screenThe Police Service of Northern Ireland locally has implemented a week of action to target metal theft and illegal waste disposal and raise awareness amongst scrap metal dealers.

The Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA) are available to offer advice to police officers who encounter illegal waste disposal.

The week of action will see officers visiting scrap metal dealers to check premises and offer advice.

Supt. Paul Reid said: “Through enforcement and prevention we remain committed to targeting those involved. Metal theft has a massive impact on the community and as such we cannot be complacent. We will continue to be innovative and determined in tackling this crime.”
