Events To Mark Alcohol Awareness Week

As part of Alcohol Awareness Week 2014, the Down Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP), PSNI, South Eastern Trust and CAST (Community Alcohol Support Team) are organising two free workshops in Downpatrick exploring the impact of alcohol on our communities.

dn_screenThe first workshop looks at the impact of alcohol on sport and the second workshop focuses on the impact alcohol has on those living with someone else’s addiction.

The first workshop is aimed at all those who organise or participate in sport in the Down District area. This is an opportunity for anyone involved with sports clubs to learn more about the role of alcohol in sport and how a club can develop its own alcohol policy. This fun and interactive workshop takes place on Monday 17 November 2014 from 7pm to 9pm in the Ballymote Sports and Wellbeing Centre. The workshop is free of charge and a light supper will be served. To reserve your place on this workshop, contact Pamela on 07834 538726 or email pamela@ascert.biz

The second workshop follows on from a well-received workshop which took place in October on building resilience in family member’s living with substance misuse. This new workshop is entitled “When my loved one won’t stop drinking”. The workshop takes place on Saturday 29 November from 1pm to 4pm in the Dufferin Training Rooms, Downshire Hospital, Downpatrick. To reserve a place on this free workshop, please phone The Addiction Unit, Ward 15 (Shimna House) on 028 44 513921.
