Emergency Services To Hold Stay Safe Info Day In Ballynahinch

dn_screenDown Neighbourhood Policing Team, in conjunction with Northern Ireland Ambulance Service and Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service, are helping the public to stay safe on the roads with an information day on Saturday 27 February.

Road users of all ages, including motorists, passengers, cyclists and pedestrians, are invited to come along to the Market House and the Square in Ballynahinch between 12 noon and 4pm.

Officers from PSNI, NIAS and NIFRS will be in attendance to share advice on road safety and to promote a better understanding of the dangers involved with antisocial behaviour on the roads.

Constable Phil Quinn said: “We want to provide an opportunity for people to learn just what is involved in dealing with trauma on the roads. We hope to provide a casual environment where the public can chat to members of the emergency services, see the type of equipment we use and discuss road safety.”

The event will culminate in a tri-service demonstration of a simulated car crash. Spectators will see how medical staff treat injured people within a badly damaged car, how emergency services work together to remove casualties from a damaged vehicle and the impact that tragic news can have on a family.

Constable Quinn added: “Everyone is welcome to attend and we look forward to seeing you there.”
