In recent months the number of burglaries in the Dundrum area has escalated.

Slieve Croob Councillor Garth Craig has expressed his concern and said: “Last week a family who lives on the outskirts of Dundrum reported a break-in where car keys were stolen.

“Dundrum has experienced the greatest number of burglary and theft offences in the whole of the Slieve Croob DEA accounting for around 30%.

“Families need to be extra vigilant over the Christmas period and make sure their properties are well secured and report anything suspicious to the police. “I have spoken to the police about these incidents and I am arranging a meeting with senior PSNI Officers and party colleagues to discuss an appropriate police response.”
