Castlewellan GAC Notes For 7 March 2016

This is a reminder that the Castlewellan GAC club member registration is now open for 2016 season.  The deadline for registrations is 31st March 2016.  We need all memberships registered and finalised by that date.  We would, however, ask that you register as soon as possible so as to reduce the significant burden of managing this process on club registrar and committee.

*Volunteering is a great way to learn new skills, meeting new people, give something back to your community and have fun in the process. One of our young club members Amy Barr has made the most volunteering and became a Millennium Volunteer (MV). The programme is open to anyone aged between 14-25 who currently volunteers or who would like to start and wants to have their commitment, skills and experienced recognised.

Amy Barr has excelled herself in volunteering.
Amy Barr has excelled herself in volunteering by doing 50 hours as a volunteer.

In Amy’s case she has completed 50 hours of volunteer coaching helping out with the underage camogs in our club. MV has been designed to be as simple as possible and to work round and individuals studies, job, hobbies and anything else you have going on. As part of the programme which is run by Volunteer Now individuals will get a certificate backed by our organisation and the department of education after an individual’s first 50, 100 and 200 hours of volunteering.

This is something which will be impressive on a CV, job or a UCAS application and is endorsed by employers and universities. Prospective employers want to see what you have to offer and what you have done. This is a way of building up your portfolio. Well done to Amy Barr who has taken those first steps with her own club.
