Alex Harbinson Selected For Bangor Central

Alex Harbinson is officially selected for Bangor Central in Ards and North Down Borough Council vacancy

Alex Harbinson has been officially selected to fill the vacancy left by outgoing Alliance Councillor Alderman Karen Douglas in the Bangor Central DEA of Ards and North Down Borough Council.

Karen has stepped down from the role after years of service.

Alex Harbinson, who ran in Bangor Central at the Local Government Election earlier this year, lives and works in the heart of Bangor.

Speaqking after the announcement, Mr Harbinson said: “I’d first like to pay tribute to my friend and colleague Karen Douglas, who has proven time and again to have been a tireless and passionate advocate for the city of Bangor.

“It’s clear she will be dearly missed, and I wish her every happiness for the future.

“It’s incredibly humbling, but also so exciting, to have been selected to pick up that mantle and represent the people of Bangor Central going forward.

“I want to make real change in my community, and I’m proud to have been given the opportunity to do so.

“My main areas of focus coming into Council will be revitalising the city centre, promoting and helping develop the growing local arts and cultural scene in Bangor.

“Also, I will be looking at ways how visitors and residents alike can engage with the area’s natural resources, among many other local issues.

“Bangor Central, as well as the wider Council area, deserves the most efficient and effective local government possible.

“I’m ready to get to work in helping deliver that.

“The Alliance Party is committed to creating shared, inclusive, safe and prosperous communities, delivering value for money and openness and transparency at Council, and ensuring the protection of our natural world, at the forefront.”
