Shannon Says It With Flowers

Jim Shannon MP presents the Ballynahinch Snowdrops to Joyce and Don Neal.

Strangford MP Jim Shannon along with Cllr Billy Walker has presented Ballynahinch Snowdrops to Joyce and Don Neal from Langley Road in Ballynahinch.

Mr Shannon said: “Some time ago, a family member who lives in Antrim and who is deeply interested in flowers and gardening, informed me that he had some Ballynahinch Snowdrops. When I heard that there was an officially named and recognised form of snowdrop called the Ballynahinch snowdrop, my ears pricked up and I was intrigued that there were flowers named after the lovely wee town of Ballynahinch.

“The flowers are starting to bloom and both Cllr Walker and myself felt that they should be presented to this lovely couple in Ballynahinch who would appreciate them and take care of them.

“It is only right and proper that this beautiful Ballynahinch Snowflake should take root and prosper in Ballynahinch, and I was pleased to see it to its new home along with my colleague Billy who is working so hard in the area.”
